My boyfriend and I booked a 6 hour session with Shankar, and had a fantastic time! We both have indoor climbing experience, him some outdoor climbing experience, and we were afraid that we wouldn't find climbs that were "just right" for us. Shankar did an excellent job picking climbs for us, he made it fun, and we felt super safe the entire time. I highly recommend booking with him at Sylvan Rocks!

Great experience! My wife and I have not done any outdoor climbing, but were willing to be challenged! We started on a fun climb up Beer and Pretzels overlooking Sylvan Lake! Jeff did a great job at understanding our skill levels and accommodating climbs to both push us, allow us to learn, and most of all enjoy our time! I would definitely recommend this experience. We are excited to climb more now that we have some skills to work with and are excited to climb again when we visit the Black Hills next time. Big thanks again to Jeff for being so professional, knowledgeable, and answering all our questions. Get out there and climb some crystals in the beautiful Black Hills!! :).

We loved our day with Sylvan Rocks! This is a must-do in the Black Hills! We had 2 adults and our 2 kids, age 7 & 8. We had all climbed at a couple indoor gyms before. That experience wasn't necessary but this was the perfect next step. Brandon was super patient and encouraging, and made us feel really safe. My husband and kids are athletic, but I am not and my son gets nervous trying new things. I couldn't believe the wall we climbed! In our 4 hours, we each tried several different climbs plus more for the kids, in a spectacularly beautiful setting. Long sleeves and durable pants recommended or you will get scraped up a bit. The awesome grippy shoes make you feel like spiderman! It was definitely a highlight of our trip and left us wanting to go again! (also felt safe with Covid concerns - staff wore masks when inside with us and the rest of the time we were in open air with plenty of space).
