Sylvan Rocks is awesome! When they say "Do something you never imagined you could!" on the website, they mean it! The single pitch AMGA guides Ryan and Ben were fantastic and I was able to summit multiple routes on my first attempt ever at climbing outdoors. I cannot recommend the climbing school enough as a fantastic addition to any trip to the Black Hills.
Learning to climb outdoors was amazing with a guide like Ryan in a setting as beautiful as Sylvan Lake. The challenge was perfect. I loved that my son learned how to climb safely with the help of his guide. This picture makes me think that what is a beginner climber today might be a skilled guide in the future! Took a Venture Crew (Scout Troop, but older and more experienced), my son included, to Sylvan Lake with Sylvan Rocks. Young group of enthusiastic and experienced guides did an amazing job! Explained and demonstrated the techniques and gear, and then allowed everyone multiple passes up several ropes they set up. They had, I think, 7 ropes set up, so a lot of climbing happening! They were sure to include belaying instruction as well. What else can I say but Sylvan Rocks rocks!
