Classic Crack, 5.7

Classic Crack (AKA Kamps Crack), 5.7 on Outer Outlet

After passing the brown Custer State Park cabin on the left and the remains of a stone structure at the base of a pinnacle on the right,  take the first right up the hill, turn left at the rock mass (Outer Outlet), pass the John Gill arrow and walk around past Lander Turkey Shoot and up the rocky trail.  The route is the beautiful 150 foot crack climbing adventure you find just before the huge flake on the right side.   This is one of the climbing routes in the Needles where you actually get a hand jam or two, but the crack is mostly a place to put your gear while climbing the face around it.  This is very typical of Black Hills rock climbing.  The first crux is climbing the face to the crack about 15 feet off the ground.  Rappel from anchors on top with 2 ropes.  Be careful not to get your rope stuck when pulling it down.

Gear:  standard rack-nuts and cams to 3.5"

Warning:  Rock Climbing can be dangerous.  Use this information at your own risk.
