Three Rings for Elvin King, 5.9 in Middle Earth

A classic route in Middle Earth. From the saddle near Riddle head down the backside (away from Sylvan Lake) and look for the faint climbers path leading into the second corridor to the left. Once in the gravelly corridor look for a karn made of a pile of small white stones at the base of a crack.  Follow the crack up the first crux. Place gear wisely, as getting over the bulge can be a bugger and lead to a mean fall if good gear is not used.  Continue up the crack happily placing lots of good gear. MAKE SURE you SAVE 4 DRAWS for the bolts at the top of the route. Failure to do so will make you very unhappy. I like to have an extra over the shoulder to sling a small horn too. Follow these bolts through the exciting face moves to the top.

Descent:  Rap with 2 ropes back to ground.

Gear:  Standard Rack up to 4”
