Bouldering Comp - Rapid City

All went well at the 2nd Black Hills Indoor Bouldering Comp held at the Athletic Club climbing gym in Rapid City. This event was orginazed by the Black Hills Climbing Coalition and Sylvan Rocks Climbing School. There were about 50 people climbing, watching the boulderers compete, and talking about climbing. There was a pot luck dinner afterwards during the drawings for great door prizes. It was a great break in what has been a rather long cold winter here in the hills. As far as the competition goes, the top 3 point scorers were Josh Dreher, Luke Ross, and Chase Gardner. We hope everyone had a good time and that we can perhaps do this more than once a year. I'd like to thank Luke Kretchmar and Jim Schlicter for all their help and support in getting things all set up, as it's a heck of a lot of work to pull down a climbing gym full of holds, wash them, and reset 25 routes. So THANK YOU!!! Luke Kretchmar is hoping to get into the gym more often and keep some fresh routes set up so that the Rapid City crew will start going to the climbing gym and using this facility so that it can grow into something even better. I hope this works out. With some work and participation, it could be a community center point for the long cold winter months. Might as well get inside and pull down to stay strong!
