Sylvan Lake

Sylvan Lake is a must see on any Black Hills Vacation.  Like all the lakes in the Black Hills, it is man made.  There is swimming, fishing, camping, lodging, cabins, and rock climbing galore.  The movie National Treasure 2 was shot  here.  If you see the  movie, it is the lake thats behind Mount Rushmore.  We meet for many of our climbing classes in front of the Sylvan Lake General Store on the west banks of the lake.  You can rent paddleboats and hydra bikes while you are there, or bring your own human powered boat.  The fishing is great, and the beauty of the place will bring you back over and over.  The trail head for Harney Peak is near the beach parking lot, so come early for a hike, and stay late for the swimming and fishing.
